Everardo Castro’s great-grandfather was one of the founders of El Sargento. Everardo has spent most of his life traveling Baja California Sur by land, and by boat. Everardo is passionate to share his knowledge, and heritage with visitors. He is proud to be “choyero”, and aims for a sustainable development of his lands.Fun fact: Everardo discovered the first American submarine “H1” in 2011, in Magdalena Bay, while fishing with two friends.

Valente Jr.
His grandfather Luciano Lucero Hirales and his brothers were some of the best fishermen and shark fishers that existed in his home town of Aguamarga. They used to row their boat to fish, in very small boats (similar to canoes). His grandfather was also a rancher, but when the hotel “Las Arenas” opened, he bought a motor boat to offer his services as a captain. Fastforward, he grew his business up to 7 boats, and his 6 sons worked as captains with him, until the hotel “Las Arenas” closed its doors. His grandfather gave his boats to his sons, allowing them to continue fishing, and working. Luciano Lucero Hirales was a hard working man, and shared his knowledge with his family. Thanks to him, Valente today has his own panga “Ballena Azul”, which he remodeled for touristic activities.
Fun fact: When Valente was a kid, he once found small bags full of coins hidden in the trunk of a tree. He threw them with a slingshot, not realizing that it was a treasure!

Carlos
Originally from Baja California Sur, born in a small town called San Pedro. Carlos loves the sea and nature, an explorer since childhood.
Carlos was taught by his father the honest work of fishing since it was the livelihood of the home at that time. He began to navigate the Sea of Cortez at the age of 13, where he has lived each adventure, both good and bad. This is part of the life of the Sea. Every year he goes to a place called Los Frailes, near Cabo Pulmo. It is his favourite place to fish.
Today he complements his fishing work, by being a captain of tourism where he puts his best positive energy so that the clients who accompany him get the best possible experience.
Fun fact: While exploring the hills and canyons, Carlos has found treasures such as ancient artifacts, carved stones of different shapes, which were used as weapons by the First People.
